Arizona Vet Sees Bright Future
H2H Success Story
After three years of active duty as an infantryman with the U.S. Army (including one year spent in Iraq), Specialist Jacob Cooper was searching for answers as to what he was going to do with his life after the service.
An Arizona native, Cooper, 25, was looking for an exciting and challenging career opportunity. His father in law, Paul Chamberlain is a member of UA Local 469 in Phoenix. Chamberlain directed Cooper to the Helmets to Hardhats website (www.helmetstohardhats.org) where he was immediately put in touch with Roger Gracke, the Director of Training for the Phoenix Pipe Fitting Trades Council.
Jacob is now an apprentice with Local 469 and is working for Metro Mechanical in the Phoenix area.
"Jacob has shined in every step of the way," said Chris Van Kirk, the Business Representative of
Local 469. "From his testing, to the professional manner in which he conducts himself with Metro
Mechanical, to his overall work ethic...there just could not be a better representation of what the
Helmets to Hardhats program is all about."
