Helmets to Hardhats Success Story - Tiffany Ince
Metallic Lathers Local #46
Tiffany’s Story:
"I recently transitioned from the Army after serving in Iraq for eleven months. My mother and I came over from Guyana so I joined the military in order to obtain money for college and start the real American life.
During my three years in the military, I learned what it meant to have discipline and responsibility. Also during that time I was able to save money to buy a house for my mother and myself.
When I was getting ready to transition out, I was worried about leaving a stable and secure job. I did not have to worry for very long. Fort Campbell has a great transition program that helped me put my resume together and sign up with Helmets to Hardhats. I wasn't even separated yet and had already been accepted into a great career with Metallic Lathers.
It went so smooth. I registered and completed my profile, browsed around to see what jobs were available and then started receiving emails about opportunities in my area. I looked into a few, and then found what I was interested in. Then I called the local, set up an interview and was hired very quickly.
This is my first experience with the building and construction trades and I am enjoying it. I really toughened up while in the military and couldn't see myself working at a desk job. I enjoy working outside and being out of an office setting. The work is difficult, but I like the challenge.
My local really takes care of their members and they appreciate my military skills. I am glad
that I signed up with Helmets to Hardhats and recommend that others do the same."
