Using Wounded Warrior Functions in H2H
Jobs for Wounded Warriors
By Ted Wadsworth, Helmets to Hardhats Marketing Coordinator
Perhaps one of the most important missions of
Helmets to Hardhats is support of America's Wounded
Warriors. Helmets to Hardhats is committed to helping disabled veterans find meaningful careers in
the building and construction industry.
Through the Helmets to Hardhats
Wounded Warrior
pages, disabled veterans are able to view useful tips on job hunting, news and other information to
help them in their career search. One of the most exciting new functions is the ability of
employers seeking disabled veterans to post career opportunities to a special section of the
website specifically designated for disabled veterans.
To access the Helmets to Hardhats
Wounded Warrior page
and view current career opportunities, you must
login
to the Helmets to Hardhats website. If you are not already a member, simply click on the
Create Account button and follow
the instructions. It only takes a few minutes.
Once you're logged in, place your mouse over the "Info Center" tab until a dropdown menu
appears. Click on the
Wounded Warrior link
in the dropdown menu. This takes you to the Wounded Warrior Page. Take a few minutes to look around
the page. Notice the many links to good information.
When you are ready to take a look at current career positions, click on the green
Search
for Careers and Apply Online button. The page that will appear contains current career
opportunities for which disabled veterans with a 30 percent or more disability, as determined by
your Veterans Administration disability rating, are encouraged to apply. Notice these opportunities
have a Purple Heart icon next to them signaling the employer is actively seeking to hire disabled
veterans.
To learn more about the opportunity, click on the title link. All the information you need to
learn more about and apply for the opening is there.
There is one thing you should keep in mind. The lack of a Purple Heart next to a position
does not mean that disabled veterans cannot apply for that position or positions elsewhere on the
Helmets to Hardhats site. To the contrary, disabled veterans are protected by law from job
discrimination. All employers listed on Helmets to Hardhats not only fully comply with
anti-discrimination laws, but honor the sacrifice made by America's Wounded Warriors and want to
help them establish meaningful careers in the building and construction industry.
