Foundation Committed to Veterans
Washington, DC – Helmets to Hardhats – a national, nonprofit program dedicated to helping
transitioning active-duty military, National Guard and Reservists connect to quality careers in the
construction industry – announced today that it will receive a charitable donation in the amount of
$50,000 from the Aetna Foundation.
The Aetna Foundation is the independent charitable and philanthropic arm of Aetna Inc. For
more than 35 years, the Foundation has helped build healthy communities by promoting volunteerism,
forming partnerships and funding initiatives that improve the quality of life where their employees
and customers live and work.
"Aetna is proud to support Helmets to Hardhats in their work to provide our brave military
service men and women with the opportunity to start a new life in the civilian workforce," said
Aetna President Mark Bertolini. "We have a long history of working with both construction and
building trades and veteran’s organizations to provide services that meet their unique needs. This
grant is a further demonstration of our commitment."
The donation will be awarded during an Aetna salute to American military veterans on Nov. 17
at the Dashiell House in San Antonio, Texas.
"This generous chartable donation from the Aetna Foundation will provide much-needed
financial assistance to our program and its efforts to help wounded warriors and other
transitioning military service members achieve lasting economic security through lucrative career
opportunities in the building and construction trades," said Darrell Roberts, Executive Director of
Helmets to Hardhats.
The Helmets to Hardhats Web site,
