Robert Schwartz
Wounded Warriors
Robert Schwartz was born in Fort Knox, Kentucky. As a child of the military, Robert relocated to several duty stations before his family settled in Broomall, Pennsylvania. After graduation from Marple-Newtown Senior High School, in 1990, Robert decided on a career in the United States Navy.
In February, 1991, Robert entered recruit training at the Naval Recruit Training Center in Orlando, Florida. Following recruit training; Robert went on to Basic Enlisted Submarine School in Groton, Connecticut. Upon graduation Robert was then transferred to the USS Kamehameha SSBN 642; homeport, Groton, CT. After two years he then attended Hospital Corpsman “A” School at Balboa Naval Hospital, San Diego, California. Following Field Medical Service School in Camp Pendleton, California he was stationed the Naval Medical Clinic in Quantico, Virginia. There he worked in the Family Practice Clinic and the Immunizations Clinic. For his next assignment he chose the Naval hospital, Guantanamo bay, Cuba. As the Leading Petty Officer for Field Operations Medical Section he provided medical support to the Minefield Maintenance Section, the Naval E.O.D. Detachment, and the Rifle Security Companies stationed on the island. Finally, Robert finished his enlistment as the Leading Petty Officer of the General Surgery Clinic in Newport, Rhode Island.
In August 2001, Robert enlisted in the Pennsylvania National Guard as an Infantry Sergeant. While serving in the National Guard, Robert was deployed to Kosovo in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. He was, subsequently, sent to Bogalusa, Louisiana in September 2005 to aide in the Hurricane Katrina Relief effort.
Robert earned a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from Temple University in Philadelphia,
Pennsylvania. In June of 2007 after graduating college Robert joined the Helmets to Hardhats
organization as the Wounded Warrior Program Coordinator. In this role Robert travels to
career fairs and conferences acting as a liaison between potential employers and the disabled
veteran’s community.
