Mel has been a member of the United Association since 1955 and is a Steamfitter by trade. He has been involved in certified apprenticeship training for over 30 years. Mel Lowney retired from UA Local 393 in San Jose, CA as the Director of Training. He served as Local 393’s President for 6 years and a Health and Welfare Trustee for 10 years. He also performed the duties of CEO and CFO of Plumbing Apprenticeship, a Non-profit Corporation Training Trust.
